Christmas Dinner in New York
My husband and I are going to New York for Christmas this year. We travel on the 22nd of December and we will be there for Christmas Day. Any ideas on where we can eat a traditional Christmas Dinner, turkey and all the trimmings? Thanks, Roxane Moulton-Bark

You’ll find that in Manhattan it’s business as usual on 25 December for many shops, restaurants and tourism businesses. Turkey is more of a Thanksgiving tradition in America. New York’s official tourism website has a restaurant list searchable by cuisine, price and location – but not by Christmas dinner: www.nycvisit.com The classic Oscar’s American Brasserie at the Waldorf-Astoria has a lunch menu that includes a Smoked Turkey Club sandwich: yours for $15 plus service and the inevitable tip. For sound NYC insider knowledge, read Sarah Turner’s destination report and advice.

Cibo is an Italian restaurant offering ‘contemporary American with Tuscan inspiration’ and they will be serving a traditional Christmas dinner from noon until 9 pm for $50 a head, children $25 – tips and service extra. Choices include roasted organic Amish turkey with sweet potato purée, Brussels, cranberry chutney, chestnut stuffing, mash and gravy. No traditional Christmas pud but dessert choices include candy cane ice cream, chocolate soufflé and pumpkin pie. You’ll find Cibo at 767 2nd Ave, ciboat42nd@aol.com, tel: (212) 681-1616.
