Easter ski destinations for mixed abilities.
A whole gang of us fancy going skiing next Easter. Our skills range from pretty experienced to complete novice. Please can you help us find a skiing holiday that will suit us all? Mike Ryan

There are plenty of resorts that cater for all levels of ability. Perhaps the best in Europe is Lech in Austria. However, because you want to holiday over Easter you need to consider resorts with high altitude where you should find better snow conditions. Beginners need good snow. I recommend some of the French resorts. Look for Snow Sure, high altitude, glacier resorts. Val Thorens is a glacier resort which should mean snow at Easter. It has good wide pistes for beginners and challenging powder skiing on the glacier for the experienced. Definitely something for everyone.

I suggest the group stays in a catered chalet, whatever resort they choose. There is nothing better than sitting round the dinner table discussing the day’s activities with a glass of wine and supper cooked by someone else. It’s all part of the ski holiday. Meribel is an excellent resort with plenty of chalets to choose from and good après ski. Beginners can learn on the local slopes at the ski school and advanced skiers can take full advantage of the 600km of skiing in the Three Valleys. Les Arcs is slightly cheaper. It’s now linked with La Plagne, and the huge ski area called Paradiski with over 420km of pistes and some gentle local slopes for beginners.
Whistler in Canada is a good resort for a group. Everyone can meet for lunch in the village centre. You’ll find a good choice of accommodation available in both catered chalets and large condos where a catered option is normally possible. In most places there’ll be a hot tub. Bliss. Food and drink are cheaper and with larger portions than in Europe and bookings can be flexible.
I’d recommend a ten or eleven night stay.

I’d choose Courchevel 1850 in the Three Valleys. It will be your best bet for good snow. There are plenty of chalets available and all the easiest runs lead back to the resort, so the group get to ski home together at the end of the day.
