Why go? Because this is possibly the most romantic, magical ski resort in the world, with oodles of Alpine charm and the Matterhorn as a stunning backdrop. The skiing area is vast, extending high up onto a glacier, and connecting with the chic Italian resort of Cervinia beyond; it’s high and snow-sure, guaranteeing a long season; and terrain covers everything from glorious long intermediate runs to terrific off-piste, moguls, and heli-skiing. Non-skiers too can ride the historic cog railways and funiculars up to gourmet restaurants – among the finest anywhere – and breathtaking views, and can enjoy activities from winter walking and snowshoeing to visiting the historic resort’s Alpine museum and browsing the stylish boutiques.
