Travel from May to October Unless you’re in the pool or the sea, it’s unpleasant to be outside during these months. Daytime temperatures normally reach the high 30s C (up to 100F) in May and October, and rise well into the 40s (110+) in July and August. During Ramadan (this year, 24 September to 23 October), when Muslims must fast from dawn to dusk, generally the only cafés and restaurants that will be open in daylight hours are in hotels, and even these won’t serve alcohol then.
Hotels near building sites Steer clear of hotels by Dubai Marina, which presently back on to a cluster of unfinished tower blocks. And whatever your preferred hotel, ask your Travel Counsellor to double-check whether there will be any building work nearby over your travel dates and ask for a room with a sea view – the speed of development in Dubai means the situation can change from week to week.
