Agree the price firmly with taxi drivers before a journey. Most don’t have meters.
Don’t take dollars. Pounds and euros are more widely recognised.
Although Europeans often consider Mauritius to be a winter sunshine destination, the island is best during the European summer. It is wet during January and February although drier on the east coast. There are occasional cyclones in February.
