Nigel Tisdall's report on Tanzania Safari
Posted On 03.04.07
Tanzania offers everything we want from an African holiday. It is home to the continent’s highest peak, Mt Kilimanjaro, and borders the immense Lake Victoria. It encompasses the vast, game-filled plains of the Serengeti and has a stunning Indian Ocean coastline lined with beaches that includes the exotic spice island of Zanzibar. The Ngorongoro Crater, a volcanic bowl 10 miles across where some 30,000 animals live, offers some of the greatest wildlife viewing in the world. For something more off the beaten track, head south to the remote camps and lodges of the Selous, or visit the primeval forests bordering Lake Tanganyika, where you can track down hilarious colonies of chimpanzees.
